Open Days

Coming on an Open Day is a great way to see Selwyn and Cambridge, to find out about what the courses are really like and also meet some of the people who might be teaching you. It is often also possible to meet current students.
Selwyn will be holding four separate Open Days this summer for students interested in applying to Cambridge:

2012 Open Day Dates
  • Saturday 12 May - Mathematics (from 12 noon)
  • Thursday 5 July - All subjects (from 11am)
  • Friday 6 July - All subjects (from 11am)
  • Saturday 22 September - All subjects (from 2pm) - Informal Afternoon
The format of the day includes an introductory talk by the Admissions Tutors, the chance to talk to Directors of Studies in the subject that interests you, a tour of the College, sessions for parents (except 12 May), and lunch at the College (except 22 September).

The College will also be open in the afternoon (2pm - 5pm) to those attending the Cambridge Open Days on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th July. There is no need to book with the College to attend this part of day but you should book to attend the overall Cambridge Open Days. Anyone who is unable to attend one of these Open Days and who wishes to discuss the possibility of applying to Selwyn is invited to write or email the Admissions Tutors, with whom it is easy to arrange meetings.

We will confirm your booking by email and full details will be sent approximately two weeks before the Open Day.

If you cannot attend the Open Day after having booked a place, please contact the Admissions Secretary as soon as possible, as places are limited. Email: Admissions.

 

Accommodation and meals

 A limited number of bed and breakfast rooms are available for overnight accommodation at a charge of £20.00 per person, per night. These will be allocated on a "first come" basis. Please request accommodation on your online booking form.

Payment for accommodation should be made in advance. A cheque made payable to "Selwyn College" should be sent to the Admissions Secretary, Selwyn College, Cambridge CB3 9DQ. The name of the student(s) and date of the night you wish to stay should be written on the reverse. Accommodation will not be reserved for you until we have received the payment.

Please note that we regret we are unable to provide accommodation for our Open Days on 12 May or 22 September.

Breakfast is included with the accommodation.  Dinner is available in our self-service cafeteria for a small cost. Please note breakfast is not available on Sundays, but brunch is served from 11.30am.
