Remembering Selwyn in your Will

Selwyn has been fortunate to have benefited since its inception from the generosity of countless alumni and friends who have included the College in their Wills.  If and when the time is right, we hope that you will consider naming Selwyn College as a recipient of at least part of your Will.

You may choose to help as an expression of affection for the College, or out of gratitude for the education you have received.  You may wish to give a gift in your Will because circumstances have not permitted you to help the College during your lifetime.

Making provision for a gift in a Will is a traditional form of giving to a charity and one of the easiest ways of making a gift that has benefits for you and the College.  Selwyn, as an exempt charity, pays no tax on gifts of money or property made in this way.  In addition, the gift may have benefits for your estate by reducing the amount liable to Inheritance Tax.

Membership of the 1882 Society is offered exclusively to those who have notified the College of their intention to benefit the College in their Will.

We wish to make you feel involved in the life of the College, so each year you will receive an invitation to dine with a guest in College.  This provides a tangible opportunity for us to thank you personally for your gift, and for you to learn of the current direction of the College.

Each member will also receive a certificate of membership and a personalised gift.
