Giving to Selwyn
Thanking our supporters
All those who are kind enough to give to the College are acknowledged in our annually published list of donors (excluding those who have requested to remain anonymous) and receive an invitation to the annual Donors' Garden Party.
Gifts of a total value of £5,000 or more made by an individual - or £10,000 or more by a group - will be acknowledged on a plaque currently displayed in the main entrance to the College offices in Ann's Court.
Those who make provision for the College in their Will are invited to join the 1882 Society. This includes an invitation to dine in College with the Master and other members of the College, and the gift of a personalised solid silver bookmark or napkin ring.
Ways to give
All the following gifts are welcome and subject to tax relief when given by a UK tax payer. If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim further tax relief on your self-assessment tax return.
Tax-efficient giving
Because Selwyn College has charitable status, there are a number of tax advantages in making a gift or bequest to the College. Tax relief can be gained through the Gift Aid scheme by UK taxpayers, and from Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Stamp Duty for donations of stocks, shares and other property. Payroll giving is another way of making a tax-efficient gift. Further details can be found below.
