Overview
Recruitment of highly skilled young researchers to work on topics of advanced computational physics and providing training to existing staff, is currently a major problem which has serious knock-on consequences on research initiatives within academia and industry.
To be more specific, there is a need for skilled staff/postdocs/PhDs who are not just users of computational software (a dangerous thing, in any case), but have a deep understanding of the mathematics, the computational methods, the computer code and the physics behind them. This requirement is even more critical when these researchers are working on sensitive industrial projects.
This series of short courses aims to rectify this problem by providing advanced training on contemporary topics of science and technology.
It will be lectured by well-known, eminent researchers of the field. The morning lectures will be complemented by afternoon practicals, so that the participants can acquire hands-on skills on the lectured topic.
Additional seminars will be given by recognised practitioners, in order to demonstrate the application of the short course topic in industrial and academic practice.
