Wireless Network

Wireless connection to the College Network is now available through much of the College; there are some rooms, however, where the connection is rather poor; on the other hand the Library, Bar and Hall are all covered.

Two wireless connections are available; one (with a name that begins 'SC-WiFi') is simple to access, but, because it is insecure, is restricted in scope. It also requires you to connect with a Raven password, and to keep open a particular web page, otherwise the connection will be closed. The other connection is a more secure wireless network, named eduroam - see eduroam.html. Note that in College Hall the connection uses the University Computing Service's Lapwing network, and is named 'Lapwing'

The same conditions of use apply to wireless as to wired network; you will have to register, and agree to pay the connection fee even if you only use the wireless network in, say, the Library.

Students who are not living in College accommodation who would like to make only occasional, only wireless, use of our network may be able to benefit from a reduced rate for such a connection. Contact the IT Office , tel (3)35850 if you believe that you come into this category.

For further information about registration and use, please see the network connection pages.
