Right to work in the UK

Body

Evidence of Right to Work in the UK

Selwyn has a legal responsibility to ensure that all its employees have the legal right to live and work in the UK.

If you are invited to interview, you will be asked to bring original documentation to prove your eligibility to work in the UK and a copy will be taken. If you cannot provide evidence of right to work in the UK at interview stage, this must be provided before you can take up employment with us.

EU and International Applicants

On 31 December 2020, the freedom of movement between the United Kingdom (UK) and the European Union (EU) came to an end. From 1st January 2021, the UK operates a new points-based system for Skilled Workers to gain permission to work in the UK. If you are an EU, EEA, or Swiss citizen, you can continue to use your passport or national identity card to prove you can work in the UK until 30 June 2021.

All EU and non-EU citizens wishing to come to the UK to work will need to demonstrate that they meet a specific set of mandatory requirements. The rules governing who has the right to work in the UK may be subject to change.
