All undergraduates living in College-provided accommodation (including hostels) pay a termly Facilities Charge. This is a contribution towards kitchen and IT overheads and services. In addition, students are charged a minimum amount for meals each term (the Minimum Meals Charge).

5.3.1 Minimum Meals Charge

Undergraduates living in College provided accommodation are charged a minimum meal charge (MMC) per term for meals. The MMC of £85 is charged on the Michaelmas Term’s bill.

The Lent and Easter bills will show the cost of meals taken in the previous term. If the minimum is not eaten during term, the shortfall will be charged as ‘meal charge not used’. The MMC charged in the student’s first term is effectively held as a deposit towards future terms’ meals and is refunded when the student leaves, less any shortfall in the final term.
