    Selwyn College is seeking a Senior Tutor to succeed Dr Mike Sewell, who is retiring after more than a decade in post.

     

    The Senior Tutor is responsible for providing leadership and administration across the College’s teaching and tutorial arrangements. The core of the role is to set strategic goals in matters of education, academic performance, discipline and welfare provision.

     

    The College is thriving academically, ranking among the top five colleges in Cambridge for the past two years, and has a reputation as a friendly, diverse and supportive community. With responsibility for the College’s provision of education and welfare, the Senior Tutor is critical as a steward of academic performance and reputation.

     

    It is expected that the successful candidate will be an established academic who wishes to re-focus his or her career to provide strategic and administrative leadership for this academic community. The post is to be filled with effect from 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter. Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons with relevant experience.

  • Salary: £28,571, plus a 20% enhancement for all hours worked during night shifts

    Hours: full-time, average of 37.5 hours per week

    Shift Pattern: typically 13 x 12.5 hour shifts in every 30 day period

    Contract Type: Permanent, subject to six months’ probation

     

    Selwyn is recruiting for a Porter to join our friendly and inclusive College community.

     

    Porters are responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the Porters’ Lodge. This includes acting as first and main point of contact for enquiries from visitors, guests, students, Fellows and staff. Porters are also responsible for the safety and security of College premises and, as Fire Wardens, responding to fire alarms and other emergencies. The Porters’ Lodge is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. Flexibility will be required to work a variety of shift patterns according to the duty roster.


    The successful applicant will be a strong team player, customer-focused with a friendly and welcoming manner, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to deal with difficult situations calmly and efficiently. The College offers excellent benefits including a generous occupational pension scheme and free meals on duty. Staff are also entitled to free use of the College gym and on-site parking.
