    Selwyn College invites applications for the Spencer-Fairest Teaching Fellowship in Law for a fixed period of five years from 1 October 2026. Preference will be given to candidates specialising in Land Law, Equity, Commercial Law, Civil (i.e. Roman) Law, EU Law, Constitutional Law or Administrative Law, and which are not within the teaching expertise of the existing Fellows. Candidates will be expected to be active in research in any area of Law and should be able to teach at least two of the courses within the Law Tripos for which regular supervisions are required. The pensionable stipend will initially be within points 38–40 on the University scale, currently £34,610 - £36,636.

    Selwyn College, with a reputation for friendliness and good food, is recruiting for a full-time Commis Chef. 

     

    The Commis Chef will assist the Head Chef, Deputy Head Chef and Section Chefs in consistently producing the highest possible standard of food for our students, staff, Fellows and conference guests, and will contribute to the introduction of innovative dishes to enhance the overall dining experience for our customers. 

     

    Applicants must be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge and a passion for food, and holding or working towards a professional chef qualification would be an advantage.     Selwyn College is seeking a Head of Buildings and Maintenance to lead its Maintenance Department. Reporting to the Bursar and Operations Manager, the successful candidate will lead a team of 11 full-time staff and play a key role in delivering the College’s ambitions for its built environment.


    This is a hands on leadership role, combining the delivery of high quality, cost effective maintenance services on a day-to-day basis with the opportunity to shape and implement a longer term buildings strategy that supports the College’s objectives and sustainability goals.


    To be successful in the role, you will be a confident and experienced leader, able to motivate and manage teams to deliver high quality maintenance solutions, with a clear focus on continuous improvement and sustainability. You’ll have strong knowledge of historic building conservation, asset and contract management, and experience of delivering maintenance services through both in house teams and external contractors. A clear and effective communicator, you’ll bring solid experience of project delivery in a multi-stakeholder environment, along with a good understanding of building compliance and relevant legislation.

    Selwyn is recruiting for a full-time Kitchen Porter to join our friendly Catering Department. Operating the plate wash and post wash machines, the post holder will have a pivotal role in maintaining the college’s 5* Hygiene Certificate.

     

    Working to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, Kitchen Porters support our Chefs and Front of House staff to produce excellent service to our students, Fellows, staff and conference guests and visitors. Applicants should have good organisational and time management skills and a willingness to help others in ensuring the highest levels of service across the team. Previous experience of working within in a team in a catering or hospitality setting would be an advantage, but full training will be provided.

    Overview

     

    Selwyn College wishes to appoint a Data & Gifts Administrator to join our Alumni & Development Department.

     

    Reporting to the Director of Development and working as part of a friendly and supportive team of six, you will help maintain our relationships with over 8,000 alumni and friends worldwide by ensuring their records and philanthropic gifts are handled accurately and professionally.

     

    You will be responsible for maintaining and updating the alumni database (Raiser’s Edge), liaising with College departments, the wider University and Cambridge University Development & Alumni Relations to ensure alumni information is up to date and accurate. You will also work closely with colleagues in Bursary (Finance) on the administration of gifts, including processing payments, setting up direct debits and producing gift receipts. Often acting as a first point of contact for alumni, you will play an important role in the smooth day‑to‑day running of the department.

     

    The successful candidate will have a collaborative and flexible approach, strong numeracy skills and attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to confidently and efficiently manage data using Raiser's Edge or a similar data management platforms.

    Selwyn College wishes to appoint a Catering Assistant to join our friendly Catering Department.

     

    Reporting to the College Butler and Hall Supervisors, the successful applicant will carry out a variety of tasks in the Servery, Dining Hall and Fellows High Table and will support the Head of Catering to meet College objectives.

     

    Applicants must be polite, friendly, reliable and well-presented and have a passion for delivering the highest standards of customer service.  Our Catering Department has a 5 Star food hygiene rating and all of our waiting staff must be able to work to a high standard of cleaning and hygiene.  Previous experience of working in a catering environment is desirable, although training will be provided. If you are interested in working with our friendly and dedicated team and gaining exceptional catering and hospitality experience in a high-profile and historic setting, we would be excited to meet you.
