In a departure from our normal fare, a group of sixteen choir members with Marcus Tomalin and Anna Langley, lutes, gathered to record this disc in the lively though intimate acoustic of Downing College Chapel. Renaissance lute solo and duet intabulations of contemporaneous choral works are juxtaposed with the originals, to produce a ground-breaking and historically important disc which promises to delight all listeners.
The recording includes music by Josquin, Morales, Gombert, Lassus, and Dowland, most of which have not been recorded before, and many of the choral editions were prepared especially for the recording.
