Fifty years of women: co-education since 1976
Selwyn has admitted women as students and Fellows for 50 years, helping shape the strong, diverse community we are today. Celebrating 50 is a chance to recognise our history and hear from those who were part of it.
In 1974, Selwyn's Governing Body voted to admit women as students and Fellows, part of the second group of Cambridge colleges to do so, after Churchill, Clare and King's in 1972. The first women arrived at Selwyn in October 1976.
Stories
Throughout the year we will be sharing stories from our community, including what today’s students make of 50 years of co-education at Selwyn. We have started with stories from our 1976 cohort, who were the first to experience co-education.
