Justice on Trial - Talk by Chris Daw QC

Body

Thursday 26 May
Oxford & Cambridge Club, London

Chris Daw QC will be our guest speaker at the Oxford and Cambridge Club, Pall Mall, London.

Chris Daw is one of the UK’s top barristers and an engaging and stimulating speaker who has been practising criminal law for over 25 years. His recent book, published by Bloomsbury, ‘Justice on Trial’ has been both a critical and popular success (and signed copies will be available on the night). Daw describes a criminal justice system at breaking point - one which is failing perpetrators, victims and society - and now he is convinced that something must change. Drawing on case histories and global reporting, Daw presents a radical set of solutions for crime and punishment, offering an insider’s view of a system in crisis and a roadmap to a future beyond the binary of good and evil.

It’s more than two years since the last Selwyn event at the Oxford and Cambridge Club and we’re pleased to announce that our regular programme will be starting again with this talk. For those who’ve never attended one of these London events, they are aimed at a non-expert audience and open to all alumni and friends plus any guests of your own you might wish to invite.

Note the club does have a dress code of jacket and tie, and no denim or trainers – but otherwise it’s a relaxed and friendly central London venue and an ideal place to get together with friends.

The talk will be preceded by drinks from 6.00pm and the talk and Q&A will begin promptly at 6.30pm, concluding at 7.30pm.

To celebrate the start of this new programme, this event will be free of charge.

You are warmly invited to join us.

Note that places are limited and booking is essential. Please book using the form below.
