Recognising Your Support

Body

The help that the college receives from its alumni and friends makes a tremendous difference to what the college and its students can achieve. Recognising your help is important to us and we do so in a number of different ways:

The Donor List

All donors who have given throughout the calendar year are listed in the Annual Report (except those who have stated that they wish to remain anonymous). Those who have given at the higher levels, Patrons' Circle (£1,500 and above) and the Master's Circle (£10,000 and above) are highlighted accordingly.

The Lyttelton Dinner

Donors who have given £10,000 or more, are invited to the Lyttelton Dinner, an annual black-tie event, named in honour of Selwyn's first master.

The 1882 Society

All those who notify the College of their intention to leave a gift in their Will to Selwyn, are invited to join the 1882 Society. All members are recorded in the Annual Report and they, together with their partners or guests, are invited to an annual lunch at the college, hosted by the Master and joined by Fellows and students.

Fellow Benefactors

The college's highest tier of recognition, reserved for those who have donated, or have been responsible for, gifts of exceptional generosity.

Naming Opportunities

The naming of spaces and positions in recognition of benefactions is a long and honourable tradition at Cambridge. At Selwyn we are proud of Ann's Court (in honour of the late Mrs Ann Dobson) and also the Sir David Li Fellowship in Law – to name but two recent examples. Many more naming opportunities exist at all levels and for a wide range of initiatives.
