David Kynaston In Conversation

How much can change in less than two and a half years? In the case of Britain in the Sixties, the answer is almost everything.

The latest instalment of David Kynaston's acclaimed Tales of a New Jerusalem series, A Northern Wind, vividly brings to life the period between October 1962 and February 1965. The book draws upon an unparalleled array of diaries, newspapers and first-hand recollections, and Kynaston's masterful storytelling refreshes familiar events – the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Big Freeze, the assassination of JFK, the funeral of Winston Churchill – while revealing in all their variety the experiences of the people living through this history.

David Kynaston will be joining us for a conversation on A Northern Wind and his career as one of the foremost historians of the British post-war period. The open discussion will be led by Professor Peter Mandler, Professor in Modern Cultural History at the University of Cambridge.

This event will take place at the Oxford & Cambridge Club, Pall Mall. The evening will open with a drinks reception at 6:00 pm, and the main conversation will begin at 6:30 pm, lasting for approximately one hour.

Limited copies of the book will be on sale at the event.
