Schools Liaison Officer: Grace Glevey
Hello! My name is Grace Glevey and I'm originally from Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire but have since stayed in Cambridge since graduating with an English degree from Trinity College earlier this year. I was Trinity's Access Officer from 2019-2020 where my main focus was on improving student life for those from similar backgrounds to mine, as well as leading the student ambassadors on Open Days and residentials.
I am responsible for building and maintaining relationships with schools and colleges in our Link Areas, and encouraging passionate and academically-able students from diverse backgrounds to consider applying to Selwyn, or to University more generally. I work with students from all year groups (including primary school age) and run events that focus on the benefits of Higher Education whether in schools or here in College, such as the Selwyn Summer Schools.
I have worked with school students for almost five years in a range of settings: from teaching outdoor skills to English as a foreign language to leading Shakespearean drama workshops on a European schools tour! I really enjoy engaging with students in small groups, getting to know them and what they might like to achieve (perhaps this is what drew me to the Cambridge supervision system!) I am keen to create these personalised environments over the coming academic year, even if outreach remains virtual – though I hope to meet many of you in the not too distant future.
