By visiting your school or college, students can receive the most up-to-date information on many areas of Higher Education, from in-depth admissions advice to more general presentations aimed at raising aspirations.

The Schools Liaison Officer is able to offer a variety of workshops, presentations and HE activities for your students. We are also happy to engage with teachers and HE advisors to ensure staff are equipped to answer questions about Cambridge and its admissions procedures.

These visits can be organised to target a variety of year groups at once, but most commonly with a specific year group. For example, this could be in-depth admissions advice for Year 13s or an Aspiring to University talk for Year 9s and 10s together.

A standard list of presentation focus areas are:

  • What is University? (for primary students/Year 7 and 8)
  • Why Aspire to Higher Education
  • Subject Matters – Informed Choices Regarding A Level Choices
  • Cambridge Explained (including admissions)
  • Personal Statement Workshop
  • Interview Workshop
  • Student Finance – Student Loans and Budgeting

These sessions last approximately 60 minutes, but it is possible to incorporate multiple presentations to create a longer session tailored to your students. If there is a topic that you would like covered which is not listed, please get in touch with the Schools Liaison Officer. Visits can be tailored to match the needs of your school and students.

It is also possible for the Schools Liaison Officers (or other staff) to attend events at your school such as a HE Fair or Careers Conference.

For any queries or requests about us visiting your school please contact the Schools Liaison Officers (schools-liaison@sel.cam.ac.uk).
