5.5 Funds for subject-related activities and Vacation placements

There are several College funds that are available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students for support in their academic and related work. The College does not support travel to areas which the government advises travellers to avoid. In all cases, the College expects all who receive grants to assess risk carefully, to keep up with all British government guidance and to abide by any U.K. or other government regulations regarding testing, vaccination, quarantine or other relevant matters: 

Russian, The Sarah Adams Fund

Purpose: Internships, dissertation research, research or other projects
Eligibility: Undergraduates and postgraduates studying Russian and those with Russian studies interests
Deadline: 22nd March

Purpose: Travel to the United States
Eligibility: All subjects, undergraduates and postgraduates, not strictly academic related travel
Deadline:  Start of Easter Full Term

Purpose: Support for Medical Elective Projects, whether travel or research
Eligibility: Clinical Medical Students preparing their elective

Purpose: Support for those studying Mathematics and Mathematics more generally
Eligibility: Maths undergraduates and postgraduates and Fellows

    Sweden’s foreign minister Tobias Billström gave a talk at Selwyn on April 16th about why his country has joined NATO. He warned that the world is going through a dangerous phase: not just the Russian attack on Ukraine, but also China’s intentions and the current crisis in the Middle East. These changing circumstances were why Sweden decided to relinquish the neutrality that it has held for more than two centuries.

    An MA graduation ceremony was held in the university Senate House on Saturday April 6th. Selwyn’s graduands gathered in Old Court on a warm, windy Spring day and then made the journey into the centre of the city via West Bye Lane and King’s College.
